Why You Have Become a Procrastinator, and What To Do About It

Procrastination usually originates from three main factors: lack of interest in a certain task, lack of time to allocate to a certain task or the lack of proper training or skill required in order to perform a certain task. All of these triggers can be solved through outsourcing, which serves as a great solution to procrastination, for both individuals and small businesses.

A Japanese technique “Kaizen” is a lean manufacturing tool that improves quality, productivity, safety, and workplace culture: it focuses on applying small, daily changes that result in major improvements over time. Kaizen works by reducing waste and eliminating work processes that are overly difficult. While you may be able to handle everything on your own, you may not be able to focus on the more essential elements of the business. The best tasks to outsource are usually the repetitive, specialized, or expert tasks.

Lack of interest.

Some companies usually outsource certain tasks because they don’t feel any interest in doing them. In this case, what you can do is schedule one unpleasant task first and get it out of the way, when prioritizing your work. In addition, you could consider rewarding yourself with appropriate rewards to motivate you. That way, you´ll free up your time, scale your business, have the peace of mind that your issues are being taken care of by professionals and you´ll be able to concentrate on the core aspects of running your business.

Lack of time.

Break difficult tasks, that you tend to resist and leave until the last minute, down into smaller tasks that can be scheduled over a period of time. Consider outsourcing them to someone who has the expertise and could use the work or the money. If it’s an easy or minimal task, you could hire someone with little experience. However, if it requires technical expertise, it’s preferable to seek the help of a professional individual to do it.

Lack of proper training.

While you may be able to handle everything on your own, you may not be able to focus on the more essential elements of the business, and achieve the ultimate objective and enhancing the prospects of your business. It is possible to streamline your business if you outsource certain tasks to vendors for you to be able to concentrate on the core areas of your business. The first step may be a little difficult, however, in the long run, it will lead to an increase in efficiency.
